Koala Room (0 to 2 years)
The Koala room aims to provide a nurturing, caring and safe environment for all children to grow, develop, learn and play working with a ratio of 1 staff member per 4 children from 6 weeks to 2 years old.
The Koala room is a flexible space where the children can wander between the carpet and lino areas. These spaces are filled with rugs, pillows, natural furniture, lots of floor activities and table activities appropriate for this age group. The activities and experiences are planned each week focusing on children’s needs and developmental stages. These activities and experiences are stimulating and allow children to explore and use and develop their natural curiosity. Sleep times vary in this room according to the child’s needs. We have a cot room with multiple cots for the younger children and floor mattresses for the older children.
The Koala room has a separate yard from the other rooms. This large space has recently been renovated and includes a sandpit, deck area, play equipment and space for tables, rugs and cushions on the soft fall for ground activities.
In the Koala room we try to follow children’s home routines as much as possible, with an aim of ensuring the children feel safe and secure. We encourage frequent communication between parents/carers and staff in order to provide the best possible care for your child. The Koala room has individual parent communication folders that are filled out daily. These folders contain information including sleep times, meals, bottle times and space to outline what each child enjoying doing at school that day. These folders are available upon collection of your child.
Bek is the room leader of the Koala room and holds her Cert III in Children's Services and is currently studying her Diploma but has been in the industry for over 15 years. Ruth works in the Koala room full-time as a child educator. She has worked at the centre for over 2 years and is certificate 3 trained and has 9 years experience in the childcare industry. This is proving to be a great team and we can't wait to see what exciting things they have planned.
