Platypus Room (3 to 5 Years)
Our room caters for children from 3-5 years, which allows us to focus on getting them ready for kindergarten and helping them form all the skills necessary for a smooth transition. We always provide developmentally appropriate experiences and practices so as to ensure a safe and nurturing environment is upheld where children can develop physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively. We have a school readiness program which covers all areas such as learning to write their names to turn taking and developing school rules.
We love bringing technology into the class room, using our light box to teach children about colours and reflections, our I pads to promote every area of development and allow the children to explore their creativity through using the camera to capture themselves and their friends. Although technology is a big part of todays life we believe that imagination and creativity should be encouraged and our everyday craft experiences such as foil painting, collage, golf ball painting, finger painting do this. We also love setting up different settings in our 'home corner' ranging from restaurants, to vets, to doctors surgeries.
Outdoor play is also very important and we strive to educate the children on environmental sustainability and how to care for and nurture our land. We have many challenging, exciting experiences that are undertaken by the children whilst outside ranging from riding tricycles, to playing with kitchen equipment in the sandpit to walking along a balance beam.
